PSYCHOLOGICAL AND EDUCATIONAL ASSESSMENT Assessments range from pre-school developmental screenings through comprehensive differential diagnostic evaluations (differential diagnosis is the scientific method for systematically ruling out the existance of specific disorders). At the simpler levels, I screen children for school readiness and maturational levels in the domains of psychomotor, itellectual, and psychosocial development. For children who show signs of academic or behavioral difficulties, I conduct thorough differential diagnostic assessments which pinpoint learning or emotional problems, strengths, weaknesses, learning styles, and recommend specific interventions and treatments. In more complex cases, I do thorough neuropsychological examinations to assess for brain impairment and the integrity of specific brain-behavior functions. In addition to assessing school-age children, I evaluate adults. Typical presenting needs include: college application and learning assisstance requests, peak performance, career changes, divorce and custody evaluations, and adult learning, attentional, and job performance issues.
